Sea-Tac Airport among locations of measles exposure on May 3
A Canadian resident confirmed with measles traveled through King and Snohomish counties from April 30 to May 3, exposing others at various public locations. Public Health – Seattle & King County reported the individual’s vaccination status is unknown, and this case does not connect to previous local cases. Dr. Meagan Kay highlighted the national significance of the outbreak, noting over 1,000 measles cases reported in the U. S.
this year. So far in 2025, Washington state has reported five measles cases among residents, with this being the third case involving non-residents. Public Health identified specific locations and times of potential exposure, advising anyone present to check their measles immunity. Locations include Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and several businesses in Renton, Bellevue, and Seattle. Symptoms may develop between May 7 and May 24, particularly for those with weakened immune systems.
