Highline Schools Foundation awards 349,750 in scholarships to 42 seniors, including first-ever Jack Mayne Journalism Scholarship

This week, the Highline Schools Foundation awarded $349,750 in scholarships to 42 seniors from several Highline Public Schools during the 2025 HSF Scholarship Reception. The event took place on May 8, and an additional scholarship will be awarded at the upcoming Pacific Islander Showcase. Among the recipients, Colin Renberg of Raisbeck Aviation High School was honored with the inaugural Jack Mayne Journalism Scholarship. Fred Swanson, Executive Director of HSF, highlighted the importance of community support in making these awards possible. The 13th Year Scholarship, created by retired Alaska Airlines CEO Brad Tilden, provides $5,000 to students based on financial need and academic performance.

The Alaska Airlines Scholarship also awarded $5,000 to multiple graduates, emphasizing future goals and achievements. Other scholarships, like the Anne Gregory Memorial and the Burien Arts Association Scholarship, catered to specific student needs and aspirations. These awards underscore the foundation's dedication to fostering educational opportunities for local students.
