Burien, WALocal News

Marrissa Boots, 30, has been charged with Attempted Kidnapping in the Second Degree following an incident on May 29, 2024, in Burien. Allegedly, she pursued a 6-year-old boy and his mother, claiming the child was hers, despite their attempts to escape. After following them into Centro Neighborhood Kitchen, Boots made further attempts to seize the boy, prompting bystanders to intervene physically. Police arrested her after she attempted to enter the vehicle where the mother and child had taken shelter. Currently, Boots is held on $100,000 bail, with prosecutors advocating for the amount to remain unchanged due to the case's severity.

The charges stem from violations of RCW 9A. 28. 020 and 9A. 40. 030(1).

This case reflects ongoing community concerns regarding child safety and public vigilance. The court hearing for Boots is scheduled for June 13, 2024, at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.
