Burien Film Fest seeking out-of-this-world short films for 2025 BUFO

Burien, WALocal News

The Burien Film Festival (BFF) invites filmmakers to participate in its 2025 contest, themed "Beam Me Up," as part of the Burien UFO Festival. Entries must be original short films that do not exceed seven minutes and must reference a Burien neighborhood, business, or landmark. Filmmakers are encouraged to aim for high production quality and can seek guidance from the BFF team. The submission deadline is July 11, with selected films announced on August 6, and the final screening and awards event scheduled for August 16. Founded in December 2014 by John White and Shelli Park, the BFF has grown alongside the BUFO Festival, which began in 2015.

The inaugural film festival required entries to include a Man in Black and Alien chase scene. The winning entry of the first BFF was “Transmission,” directed by Mitch Olsen. This year’s contest aims to further showcase Burien’s creative talent while embracing the quirky theme of extraterrestrial fun.
