The Men in Black Birthday Bash Festival will host a Colleen Rafferty Look-Alike Contest on June 13, 2025, at Marina Mercantile in Des Moines. Inspired by Kate McKinnon's character from Saturday Night Live, the contest encourages participants to share their alien abduction experiences. Free tickets for attendees aged 21 and older are available on Eventbrite, with demand expected to be high. MIBBB Fest celebrates the 1947 Maury Island Incident, which featured the first reported encounter with a Man in Black. This year's main festival event occurs on June 21, where attendees will receive mission briefs detailing the incident's history.

The festival, founded in 2022 by local residents, aims to preserve and share the unique stories of Des Moines' history. Steve Edmiston, co-founder of MIBBB Fest, emphasizes creating a welcoming environment for participants. Additional events for the weeklong festival will be revealed in the near future.
