City of Buriens Open House on housing code, zoning map changes is this Wednesday, April 30

Residents of Burien can influence local housing policy at a Community Open House on April 30, 2025, from 3:30 to 5:30 p. m. at the Burien Library. The event will focus on proposed amendments to the Housing Code and Zoning Map, part of the Burien 2044 Comprehensive Plan aimed at promoting equitable housing growth. The proposed amendments are designed to reduce displacement and eliminate development barriers while complying with recent state legislation.

City planning staff will provide information and answer questions during the open house. Community members are encouraged to attend a subsequent Planning Commission meeting to provide public comment on the proposal. The city highlights its collaborative approach to re-imagining Burien’s future through coordinated planning efforts.
