ELECTION RESULT 2 King County Proposition No. 1 on track for passage as more ballots counted

King County Proposition No. 1 continues to receive strong voter backing, with 59. 40% approval as of April 23. The proposed measure authorizes a seven-year property tax levy to support upgrades to the countywide forensic fingerprint and palmprint identification system starting in 2026. Currently, 173,090 voters support the measure, while 118,305 oppose it, necessitating a simple majority for passage.

Voter turnout has reached 20. 46%, with a total of 292,001 ballots counted out of 1,427,439 registered voters. This turnout reflects a slight increase from previous counts, where approval was slightly higher at 59. 72%. King County Elections emphasized the unofficial status of these results until they are certified on May 5.

The proposition aims to improve local public safety and technological capabilities in forensic identification. As the election progresses, stakeholders await the official certification to finalize the results.
