Shark Garden to host annual Spring Open House on Saturday, April 26

The New Start Community Garden, known as the Shark Garden, will host its annual Spring Open House on April 26, 2025, from Noon to 3 p. m. This family-oriented event will feature local nonprofits, plant sales, and an engaging fundraiser with plants and jelly for sale. Attendees can explore booths from community partners, offering a variety of services and resources. Local nurseries, including Wanderlust Nursery and Nobody Nursery, will present an array of edible and rare native plants for gardening enthusiasts.

A standout feature this year is the free instant soil testing provided by the Washington State Department of Ecology, encouraging participants to bring a cup of soil from home for analysis. The event aims to foster community engagement and raise awareness about gardening and sustainability. “Come help welcome spring to the garden! ” exclaimed the organizers in their announcement.
