UPDATE Kent Police seeking publics help locating domestic violence suspect previously thought to have perished in fire

Burien, WALocal News

Kent Police are on the lookout for Avon A. Cobb, 51, who is wanted for domestic violence assault involving a firearm and felony eluding. Initially, it was believed that Cobb had perished in a fire that consumed a building where he was hiding during a police standoff. However, investigators now suspect that he may have escaped the scene before or during the fire. The incident began with Cobb assaulting a family member and fleeing in a vehicle, which triggered a police pursuit.

After tracking him to the building in Auburn, officers attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender, but Cobb refused to exit. The situation escalated into an hours-long standoff, ultimately culminating in a fire that engulfed the structure. Once the flames were extinguished, police conducted an extensive search, but Cobb was not found. The Kent Police Department is now urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them.
