Burien, WALocal News

A devastating single-vehicle accident on I-405 in Tukwila resulted in the death of a 40-year-old Seattle man on January 3, 2025. The Washington State Patrol reported that the driver lost control of his SUV while traveling at a high rate of speed, failing to navigate a curve. The vehicle subsequently left the roadway, colliding with a metal sign and a concrete barrier before coming to a halt on the right-hand shoulder. Emergency personnel arrived but sadly pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The incident caused significant disruption, blocking the roadway for over three hours as investigators worked to establish the cause of the crash.

Preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed was a contributing factor, although it remains undetermined if drugs or alcohol were involved. The driver was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, which raises further questions about the circumstances leading to the accident. The victim's identity is being withheld until next of kin can be notified, underscoring the human impact of this tragic event.
