The Sound Transit Board of Directors has appointed Dow Constantine as its new CEO, effective April 1, 2025, with an annual salary of $450,000. Constantine, who is wrapping up his record fourth term as King County Executive, brings extensive experience to the role, having been a member of the Sound Transit Board since 2006 and serving as its Chair since 2023. His appointment was supported by a rigorous selection process, which reviewed 60 applicants from around the world. Board Chair Dave Somers commended Constantine's proven track record in managing large organizations and his deep understanding of Sound Transit. In his acceptance, Constantine expressed his commitment to enhancing the region's mass transit system, which he has long advocated for throughout his political career.

He aims to create vibrant, transit-connected communities across Central Puget Sound. Notably, Constantine previously led King County Metro, which was recognized as the Best Large Transit Agency in North America in 2018. His leadership is expected to drive the agency forward amid challenges such as inflation and workforce shortages, ensuring a robust recovery and growth in transit services.
