4-vehicle crash on I-5 leads to arrest for suspected DUI and vehicular assault

An 18-year-old driver was arrested early on Saturday morning, March 29, 2025, on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault after causing a four-vehicle crash on northbound I-5 near South 188th Street in SeaTac. According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred just before 3 a. m. and left three individuals injured. Emergency services responded quickly, leading to nearly two miles of traffic backup as lanes were closed for investigation.

The driver from Renton is believed to have struck a second vehicle that subsequently hit a metal road sign before being struck by two other cars. One of the injured drivers was taken to Harborview Medical Center, while the other two were evaluated at the scene and released. The crash resulted in three totaled vehicles and a significant traffic disruption that lasted over five hours. As the investigation continues, the arrested driver is expected to be booked into King County Jail. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding impaired driving and road safety in the region.
