Amid fears of budget cuts to top-secret government agencies, Men in Black Birthday Bash Festival will beam back weekend of June 21-22

The upcoming "MIBBB Fest," scheduled for June 21-22, 2025, in Des Moines, will celebrate the historic Maury Island Incident and the first appearance of the Men in Black. This year's highlight is the cosplay birthday bash, where 200 participants will don black-and-white attire to honor the infamous UFO sighting from 1947. However, the festival's future is uncertain, with co-founder Steve Edmiston expressing concerns about potential government budget cuts impacting secret agencies that have historically supported the event. He pointed out that the FIFA World Cup 2026's scheduling in Seattle coincides with the festival, potentially overshadowing it. Edmiston believes this could signal a deliberate attempt to sideline MIBBB Fest.

Despite these challenges, the festival organizers are determined to make this event unforgettable, should it be the last. Attendees can anticipate a unique blend of performance art, quirky traditions, and exclusive merchandise, such as collectible lapel pins and branded sunglasses. Past festivals have sold out, indicating a strong community interest and support for the event.
