Burien, WALocal News

The March 28 edition of ‘7 Stories’ at the Highline Heritage Museum showcased a delightful array of animal-themed tales told by local community members. The event was organized by Peggy Cummings and began with a land acknowledgment and welcoming remarks from Charlotte Williams, highlighting the importance of community storytelling. Notable storytellers included Penny Tetter, who reminisced about her childhood ducks, and Don West, who humorously recounted a camping experience involving a mistaken rattlesnake. Gretchen Douma shared her insights into the intelligence of poodle mixes, emphasizing the unique bonds they form with their humans. Stephen Scheurich capped the night with a thrilling account of a misfired tranquilizer dart and a mountain lion encounter, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats.

The event not only entertained but also reinforced the deep connections between people and animals. Attendees were encouraged to participate in future storytelling events, fostering a sense of community and shared experience. The enthusiastic atmosphere and engaging narratives made this edition of '7 Stories' a memorable celebration of animal tales.
