Shape Your City Launches Second Phase

Burien, WALocal News

The City of Burien is embarking on the second phase of its "Shape Your City" initiative, a comprehensive planning effort designed to update the Comprehensive Plan, Transportation Master Plan, and Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan. Following a successful community visioning phase last year, where residents shared their priorities, the city is now seeking deeper insights to develop specific strategies for its future. City Manager Adolfo Bailon underscores the necessity of community involvement, stating, “We want to hear from you about what kind of city Burien should be over the next twenty years. ” Residents can participate in various ways, including an open house scheduled for April 18, where they can engage directly with city planners. Additionally, feedback can be submitted online through surveys and an interactive map.

This collaborative approach is designed to ensure that the community's voice is integral to decision-making processes, guiding policy and budget considerations for the next two decades. As Burien re-imagines its urban landscape, the city is committed to fostering a sustainable and vibrant community. This initiative not only reflects local priorities but also sets the stage for a more responsive and inclusive planning process.
