Pride Flag to be Raised Above Burien City Hall

On June 1, 2023, the City of Burien will raise the Pride flag over City Hall to kick off LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, inviting the community to join the celebration from 10-10:30 a. m. City Council members and representatives from the Burien Pride Committee will speak during the event, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in the city. The Pride flag, symbolizing diverse identities within the LGBTQIA+ community, will remain on display throughout June, marking the third consecutive year it has been raised. Burien's commitment to diversity is echoed by City Manager Adolfo Bailon, who highlighted the ongoing efforts to address systemic barriers to inclusion.

In addition to the flag-raising, the Burien Pride event will take place from June 3-5, showcasing a vibrant festival with music, a beer garden, and over 100 vendor booths. On May 22, the City Council will also issue a proclamation in recognition of Pride Month, encouraging public attendance. This initiative not only celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community but also reinforces Burien's dedication to fostering an inclusive environment for all residents.
