Small Business Economic Recovery Grant Program to Help Burien Businesses

Burien, WALocal News

The City of Burien is launching its Small Business Economic Recovery Grant Program, providing $5,000 grants to help local businesses recover from the ongoing economic impacts of the pandemic. Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, this initiative is designed to combat the challenges many small businesses continue to face, such as revenue declines, workforce shortages, and inflationary pressures. Chris Craig, the Economic Development Manager for Burien, emphasized the importance of this support in preventing job losses and business closures. The City has allocated $10. 8 million in federal funds for this purpose, partnering with Ventures Nonprofit to oversee the program's administration.

The online application portal will open at 5 p. m. on June 20, 2023, and remain open until July 11, 2023. Grant disbursements are anticipated to occur in August and September. Technical assistance will be provided to all applicants, ensuring that language access is available.

Interested businesses should review the eligibility and documentation requirements detailed on the City’s website.
