City of Burien Celebrates Welcoming Week

The City of Burien is excited to host its third annual Welcoming Burien event on September 16, 2023, marking a significant celebration during National Welcoming Week. Scheduled from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m.

at Town Square Park, the event invites residents to enjoy a variety of activities designed to foster community connections. Participants can engage in multicultural games hosted by the Highline Heritage Museum and enjoy dance performances that celebrate the area's cultural diversity. Local restaurants will feature a selection of their cuisines, showcasing Burien's rich food scene. More than 20 community organizations will be present to provide valuable information and resources, encouraging residents to connect with their neighbors. City Manager Adolfo Bailon emphasizes the importance of creating a welcoming environment for all, stating that the event aims to build bridges of trust and understanding.

This initiative is part of the broader goals of the Welcoming America Network, which Burien has been a member of since 2021. The Welcoming Burien event serves as a reminder of the city's commitment to inclusivity and community prosperity.
