Environmental Restoration Volunteers Needed

Burien, WALocal News

The Green Burien Partnership is excited to announce the upcoming environmental restoration events in Burien parks, celebrating the start of the planting season in the Pacific Northwest. These community-oriented, family-friendly events are designed for individuals of all experience levels, as no prior knowledge is necessary to participate. Refreshments, gloves, and tools will be provided, ensuring a supportive environment for all volunteers. The first event, Green Burien Day, will take place on October 21 at Hilltop Park, featuring live music and the opportunity to plant hundreds of native plants. Following this, a weeding and planting event at Hazel Valley Park is scheduled for October 28, where participants will learn about tool safety and forest health.

On December 9, volunteers can join the replanting efforts at Dottie Harper Park, where native trees and shrubs will be planted in previously cleared areas. The initiative not only fosters community engagement but also emphasizes the importance of environmental stewardship. Interested individuals are encouraged to pre-register for these impactful events.
