Highline High School Booster Club seeking food donations to support student athletes

Burien, WALocal News

The Highline High School Booster Club is reaching out to the local community for help in stocking its on-campus food pantry, which provides essential nutrition to student athletes. With nearly 70% of Highline students living in poverty, many rely on school-provided meals that often fall short of their energy needs during demanding athletic schedules. As spring sports begin, the pantry is running low on supplies, making immediate community support crucial. Donations can be made through the Highline Schools Foundation’s Athletics General Fund, or non-perishable items can be dropped off at Highline High School or Pollock Insurance during business hours. The pantry is designed to operate with no questions asked, ensuring that all student-athletes can access the nutritional support they need.

Items that are especially needed include granola bars, protein drinks, and ready-to-eat meals. In a statement, the Booster Club expressed gratitude for community involvement, emphasizing the importance of meeting students' fundamental nutritional needs. This initiative not only addresses hunger but also strengthens community bonds and highlights the importance of supporting local youth.
