UPDATE Pedestrian identified after fatal fall from SR 518 overpass in SeaTac Tuesday morning

On March 25, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in SeaTac when a pedestrian fell from an overpass onto the SR 518 freeway, resulting in a fatality. The victim, identified as Marinela D. Leroy, 40, was struck by a vehicle shortly after falling into the second lane of traffic. The vehicle was driven by a 32-year-old man from Kent, who, fortunately, was not injured, nor were his two young passengers aged 10 and 7. Sadly, Leroy died at the scene, prompting an investigation by the Washington State Patrol.

Authorities have yet to establish the cause of her fall, although they confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not involved. The incident caused significant traffic disruption, blocking the roadway for almost three hours. This heartbreaking event underscores the need for pedestrian safety measures in the area. The community extends its condolences to Leroy's family and friends during this difficult time.
