A devastating suspected DUI crash on SR 509 late Saturday night, February 22, 2025, resulted in the death of a 53-year-old woman from Seattle. The collision occurred at 11:25 p. m. , when a high-speed rear-end crash caused one vehicle to veer off the road and strike a tree. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of her vehicle, a 58-year-old man, and an 18-year-old female passenger were both unharmed in the crash. Meanwhile, the suspected impaired driver, a 26-year-old Seattle man, sustained injuries and now faces several serious charges, including vehicular homicide and DUI. The Washington State Patrol confirmed that drugs or alcohol were involved, emphasizing the need for vigilance against impaired driving. The incident underscores the tragic consequences of reckless behavior on the road, as both vehicles involved were completely totaled. Authorities continue to investigate the crash and urge drivers to avoid dangerous driving practices.
