Burien Police Chief Promoted Within KCSO

Burien Police Chief Ted Boe has been promoted to Chief of Patrol Operations Division at the King County Sheriff's Office, effective January 1, 2023. In expressing his gratitude, Boe noted the positive changes implemented during his five years in Burien, focusing on accountability and innovative policing methods. He praised his team of dedicated professionals for their commitment to exceptional community service. Captain Todd Morrell will assume the role of Acting Chief while Boe is at the FBI Academy, reinforcing the department's continuity of leadership. The City of Burien plans to work closely with the King County Sheriff’s Office to identify qualified candidates for the Chief of Police position.

A public engagement process will follow, allowing community members to voice their preferences for the new chief. City Manager Adolfo Bailon reiterated the importance of community involvement in shaping public safety decisions. This leadership transition marks a significant moment for Burien as it seeks to uphold its values in public safety.
