Updated Burien Renters Handbook Available in English and Spanish

Burien, WALocal News

The City of Burien has released an updated "Renting in Burien Handbook," now available in both English and Spanish, aimed at educating landlords and tenants about their rights and responsibilities. This handbook is a requirement for landlords of residential rental properties, ensuring that tenants receive vital information on just cause evictions and other rental policies. The updates come following the Burien City Council's adoption of Ordinance 804 on October 24, 2022, which amends the city's existing suite of renter protections established in 2019. By providing this handbook online at burienwa. gov/renting, Burien enhances accessibility and transparency regarding rental housing laws.

The initiative reflects the city's dedication to fostering a fair rental market and protecting tenant rights. This resource not only empowers tenants but also assists landlords in understanding their obligations under the law. The bilingual availability of the handbook ensures that all residents, regardless of their primary language, can access critical information. Such efforts contribute to a more informed community and promote equitable housing practices in Burien.
