City Seeks Pro and Con Committee Volunteers

Burien, WALocal News

Burien residents have the opportunity to apply for temporary pro and con committees concerning the proposed Initiative Measure No. 24-001, which addresses crucial labor standards and minimum wage regulations. The application is available online, providing an accessible platform for residents to express their opinions on the matter. Those selected as committee members will be responsible for drafting opposing and supporting statements that will be published in the Voters Pamphlet by King County Elections. The Burien City Council will appoint committee members at a forthcoming meeting, ensuring that local voices contribute to the initiative's discussion.

In early December 2024, the council will also consider a resolution for a special election to further engage the community. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to involving its residents in significant local governance matters. By participating in these committees, residents can play an active role in shaping labor policies that impact their community. Applications will remain open until all positions are filled, encouraging broad participation.
