Burien's Initiative 1, which seeks to raise the minimum wage to $21. 10 per hour, continues to show strong support in the latest election results. As of February 13, 2025, 55. 55% of voters have cast their ballots in favor of the measure, with 3,829 votes supporting it. This marks a steady increase in support, as the initiative had only 54.

33% approval in the first round of results. With 6,898 ballots counted, representing 22. 88% of Burien’s 30,146 registered voters, the outcome appears increasingly favorable. The initiative also includes provisions requiring employers to offer additional hours to part-time employees before seeking new hires. King County Elections will finalize the results by February 24, with ongoing ballot processing expected to further influence the count.

The increase in voter turnout and support for this measure reflects a significant local interest in wage issues. As the community awaits the final results, the implications of this initiative could have lasting effects on local employment practices.
