United Way of King County is offering free tax preparation services for residents earning less than $80,000 per year, or $96,000 for non-single filers, running until April 19. Funded by United Way, the IRS, and the City of Seattle, this program aims to support low-income individuals in maximizing their tax refunds. The service is available at multiple locations across King County, including El Centro de la Raza and the Public Library Main Branch, with virtual assistance options also provided. Tax preparation specialists will assist clients in navigating their tax situations and accessing beneficial credits, such as the Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit. Last year, the program successfully served over 12,700 residents, resulting in more than $16 million in tax refunds.

United Way of King County has also launched My Free Taxes Washington, a centralized hub for free tax filing in the state. For those interested, detailed information on in-person locations and virtual assistance can be found through the provided links. This initiative reflects a commitment to financial stability and support for the local community.
