Burien, WALocal News

Huckleberry Square, a beloved dining establishment in Burien, has introduced a "Giving Wall" initiative aimed at providing meals to the city's most vulnerable residents. This innovative program, developed in partnership with The More We Love (TMWL), allows customers to purchase meals and place their receipts on a designated wall for volunteers to collect and distribute. TMWL, which works under the direction of the City of Burien, focuses on assisting unhoused individuals, those recovering from addiction, and families fleeing domestic violence by connecting them with vital services. Huckleberry Square emphasizes that food is not only about nourishment but also about fostering community connections and offering hope. Burien City Manager Adolfo Bailon highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating it provides residents a direct way to help those in need while TMWL works to connect them with comprehensive support services.

This collaboration signifies a positive step toward addressing food insecurity and enhancing community welfare in Burien. The restaurant encourages community involvement by inviting customers to participate either in person or through their online platform. By reinforcing local efforts to combat hunger, Huckleberry Square demonstrates its commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
