Tolling on new SR 509 Expressway begins Monday, Sept. 29
South King County drivers will soon face tolls on a one-mile section of the newly opened SR 509 expressway, starting Monday, Sept. 29. This tolled stretch runs between I-5 and 24th Ave South, located just south of Sea-Tac International Airport. Tolls will be charged in both directions at the I-5 ramps, with Good To Go! pass holders paying between $1.
20 and $2. 40, depending on the time of day. Drivers without an account will receive a bill by mail, including an additional $2 per trip. The toll revenue will cover road maintenance costs and support projects under the Puget Sound Gateway Program. This initiative aims to alleviate congestion on I-5 and enhance freight mobility to the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma, as well as SEA Airport.
The expressway's first mile opened in late June, and construction on the final two-mile extension, connecting to South 188th Street, is set to finish in 2028. For more information on tolling and setting up a Good To Go! account, visit MyGoodToGo. com.
