B-TOWN BIZ After a year in business, Ables Steakhouse has served its last sirloin in Burien

Burien, WALocal News

Ables Steakhouse in Burien closed permanently on August 2, following a year of service to the local community. Owner Ryan Ables conveyed his gratitude in a Facebook post, reflecting on the meaningful connections formed with customers over birthdays and casual dinners. The restaurant had temporarily shut down on July 17 due to a heat-related refrigerator failure, although the link between this incident and the closure remains unclear. Ables, also the proprietor of Humble Vine, expressed appreciation for his staff, noting their role in making the restaurant feel like home. He reassured patrons that this closure signifies the end of a chapter rather than a farewell.

The restaurant's history includes its previous life as Side Street Kitchen & Bar, a neighborhood favorite from 2008 to 2023. The challenges of running a restaurant have intensified in recent years due to rising food and labor costs, staffing issues, and supply chain disruptions. Ables' message highlighted the importance of community support in the restaurant industry during these difficult times.
