Bloodworks Northwest appeals to the community for blood donations during a drive scheduled for August 7, 2025, at Burien City Hall, addressing a critical summer blood shortage. The event, running from 9:30 a. m. to 3:30 p. m.

, will take place in the council chambers at 400 SW 152nd Street. Residents can book appointments online or call Bloodworks Northwest directly. Donors must meet age and weight requirements, with a minimum age of 16 and a weight of at least 110 pounds. Type O blood is especially vital for trauma care and emergency situations, according to Bloodworks Northwest. “Summer is a season of more adventures and more accidents,” the organization stated, highlighting the urgency for donations.

All contributions will support emergency blood supplies in hospitals throughout the Puget Sound region. This initiative reflects ongoing challenges in maintaining adequate blood reserves, particularly during peak accident seasons.
