Meals on Wheels in Burien urgently needs Volunteer drivers

Burien, WALocal News

Burien Meals on Wheels urgently requires volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors in the community. Operating on Wednesday mornings, the program seeks alternate delivery drivers willing to commit about 90 minutes per route. Volunteers should arrive between 10:30 and 11 a. m. Sound Generations, which manages the initiative, emphasizes the critical role volunteers play in combating social isolation and enhancing seniors' independence.

“This is a vital volunteer role for someone who is ready to step in when needed,” the organization stated. By providing nutritious meals and personal contact, volunteers significantly impact the lives of those who may otherwise be alone. The initiative underscores the importance of community support in maintaining essential services for vulnerable populations. Engaging with seniors not only fulfills a logistical need but also addresses emotional well-being by fostering connections.
