Marie Barbon is one of three candidates running for Burien City Council Position No. 3 in the 2025 election. Ballots for the primary election began arriving on July 18, with voting scheduled for Aug. 5. Barbon, a pediatric nurse and current chair of the Human Services Commission, aims to address public safety, affordability, and sustainable growth.

She believes many residents are struggling with rising costs and supports local businesses to enhance the economy. “Instead of raising taxes that worsen affordability, we need to grow our city’s resources,” Barbon emphasized. Her approach includes investing in community policing and expanding access to addiction treatment and affordable housing. The top two candidates from the primary will advance to the general election on Nov. 8.

This election serves as a critical juncture for Burien, highlighting pressing local issues and potential leadership directions.
