Highline Forum to discuss World Cup Planning, workforce development and more on Wednesday, July 23

Scheduled for July 23, 2025, the Highline Forum will run from 2:30 to 4:30 p. m. and cover significant regional updates related to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and workforce development efforts. The forum will be hosted at Highline College's Student Union Building in Des Moines, offering both in-person and virtual attendance options through Microsoft Teams. Community members interested in attending must RSVP to Dave Kaplan for necessary arrangements, such as parking passes or Teams links.

Presentations will focus on World Cup preparations by Explore Seattle Southside and the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce. Local representatives from Highline College, Highline Public Schools, and the Port of Seattle will discuss workforce development initiatives impacting the area. An update from Interim Aviation Managing Director Arif Ghouse will provide insights into the StART group. The forum aims to enhance communication between the Port of Seattle and surrounding communities affected by Sea-Tac Airport operations. Public comments will be welcomed, emphasizing community engagement in regional planning.
