LETTER TO THE EDITOR Burien Councilmember Mora defends Schilling, slams Obras campaign mailer

Burien, WALocal News

Burien City Councilmember Stephanie Mora issued a strong defense of Mayor Kevin Schilling against criticisms stemming from a campaign mailer sent by rival Edwin Obras. She highlighted Schilling's endorsement by the King County Police Officers Guild, asserting its importance in the context of public safety. Mora pointed out that crime rates in Burien have actually decreased, contradicting claims made in the mailer. She criticized Obras for misrepresenting a no-confidence letter regarding the enforcement of the city's anti-camping ordinance. Mora suggested that either Obras misunderstood the letter or chose to exploit it due to his support for encampments.

She expressed pride in the collaborative efforts made with Schilling to enhance safety in the city. Mora condemned the mailer for being misleading and disrespectful to the community's progress. She emphasized the need for strong leadership like Schilling's, especially in challenging times.
