UPDATE Man found dead at Buriens Moshier Park Tuesday has been identified

Scott Donald Richard, 62, of Burien, was identified as the man found dead at Moshier Park on July 15, 2025. First responders were dispatched around 6 p. m. after someone called for a welfare check, reporting that Richard appeared to be sleeping in a truck. Emergency personnel from the King County Fire Department attempted medical aid but pronounced him dead shortly after their arrival.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause and manner of death, which remain unknown at this time. This incident has sparked discussions about the safety and well-being of individuals in public spaces in Burien. Witnesses noted attempts to wake Richard before calling for help, highlighting community engagement. Local officials may need to assess resources for mental health and public safety in the area.
