Close encounter of the furry kind dog attacks inflatable UFO in Downtown Burien

Burien, WALocal News

A dog successfully attacked an inflatable UFO display in downtown Burien, showcasing the town's quirky charm. The incident, captured by John White, founder of the Burien UFO Festival, occurred during preparations for the event scheduled for August 16, 2025. The inflatable was set up at the corner of SW 152nd Street and 6th Ave SW, where festival activities will include costumes, music, and family-friendly fun. The dog's intentions remain a mystery, as it could have perceived the UFO as a toy or an intruder. Fortunately, the inflatable suffered only minor damage and has been repaired for future use.

The canine was returned to its owner unharmed, possibly feeling triumphant after the encounter. The Burien UFO Festival celebrates local alien lore and oddities, drawing community interest and participation. This year, organizers hope for fewer incidents involving dogs and inflatable spacecraft.
