Victim of Mondays fatal shooting at Des Moines Safeway has been identified

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Jeremiah N. O’Neal, 20, as the victim of a shooting at a Safeway in Des Moines on July 24. O’Neal was shot multiple times while in a parked vehicle shortly after 5 p. m. when two suspects approached in a stolen car and opened fire.

After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene, prompting a police response. Tukwila Police located the suspect vehicle the following day and attempted to stop it, leading to a pursuit that ended in a crash. Officers arrested one male and one female from the vehicle, but a third suspect remains at large. This incident adds to concerns about rising gun violence in the region. Authorities are working to enhance public safety and apprehend the remaining suspect.
