Waterland Parade to celebrate life of beloved racer Steve Huff on Saturday, July 19

South King County will host the Waterland Parade on July 19, 2025, to celebrate the life of Steve Huff, an internationally recognized hydroplane racing champion who died on May 21, 2025, after battling Stage 4 cancer. Friends and teammates will march in his memory, proudly displaying a banner bearing his name and chanting “Huff! ” The community previously honored Huff as the Grand Marshal of the 2023 parade, a recognition following his national championship win in 2022. Organizer Jill Andrews encouraged community participation, stating that Huff's legacy and contributions would be cherished. A memorial service and celebration of life are scheduled for August 16, 2025, in Renton and Kent, emphasizing the community's commitment to keeping his spirit alive.

Huff was known for his speed on the water and his dedication to giving back to the community. His impact on local hydroplane racing and community initiatives will be remembered fondly. The parade serves as a pivotal moment for the community to unite in remembrance and celebration.
