The King County Sheriff's Office arrested a suspect involved in a homicide that took place at a Burien gas station on February 12, 2023. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Elijah Chase Dye, was shot shortly after 10 p. m. and died despite medical efforts at the scene. Following the shooting, the suspect fled, leading to a search by deputies and K-9 units, which was unsuccessful.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged the suspect with Murder in the Second Degree, including a firearm enhancement, while he remained at large. On March 7, 2023, law enforcement located the suspect in Seattle, where a coordinated effort led to his arrest without incident. The King County TAC-30 team assisted in the operation due to the suspect's armed status and prior actions. The case highlights ongoing concerns about gun violence in the area. Dye's tragic death underscores the need for community and law enforcement collaboration to address such incidents.
