On June 27, 2025, at 11:10 p. m. , Burien Police pursued a vehicle linked to a recent homicide, which was identified as stolen via a FLOCK camera. The camera system, which captures license plates and alerts police to matches with wanted vehicles, played a crucial role in the incident. After attempting to elude officers, the vehicle’s occupants fled on foot near Highline High School, leading to a coordinated search involving KCSO and a K-9 unit.

Police managed to detain one suspect, but officials have not released any information about the homicide case or the suspect's identity. KCSO MPO Jace Hoch confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. The use of automated license plate readers has sparked discussions about public safety and privacy.
