Burien, WALocal News

The Burien Eagles Aerie #3523 will host a BBQ fundraiser on July 26, 2025, from 4 to 7 p. m. to raise $10,000 for emergency floor repairs necessitated by the discovery of asbestos. The event, titled “Summer BBQ for the Floors,” will feature a menu of smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and classic BBQ sides, with tickets priced at $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in bottle raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and a silent auction to support the cause.

Secretary Nikki Sharp emphasized the urgency of the repairs, stating, “From my understanding, it was a rush to get them done because of the asbestos that was found. ” Community members can contribute by purchasing tickets or donating side dishes and raffle baskets. Sharp, who will prepare the smoked meats, noted that her brisket and pulled pork are popular choices at past events. The fundraiser aims to alleviate the financial burden of the unexpected repair costs while fostering community spirit. Such initiatives support local organizations and provide a platform for community engagement and support.
