Lane closures in place again on Mass Pike

Boston, MALocal News

Lane closures on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Newton and Weston will last until 5 a. m. on Monday to allow crews to complete the demolition of the I-90 bridge over the MBTA railroad. MassDOT anticipates significant traffic delays and urges drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. I-90 traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction between Exits 123 and 125, with one lane maintained at all times.

The closures also necessitate the suspension of MBTA Commuter Rail service on the Framingham/Worcester line, affecting travel between South Station and Framingham, as well as Amtrak service between Boston and Albany. Alternate bus services are being provided during the shutdown periods to accommodate affected passengers. This work is part of the broader Newton/Weston Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation project at the I-90/I-95 interchange, aimed at improving infrastructure. Major traffic disruptions are expected during work hours, emphasizing the need for drivers to plan accordingly. Residents and commuters are advised to leave extra travel time during the weekend.
