November 28, 2025 Traffic Advisory
Boston will enforce temporary parking restrictions and street closures for several events in December 2025, starting with the lighting of the tree at Copley Square on December 1. The Parks Department has specifically identified areas where parking will be restricted, such as the south side of Boylston Street. Following this event, holiday lighting activities at Commonwealth Mall and Beacon Hill on December 4 will also impose parking limitations, affecting Commonwealth Avenue and Charles Street. The annual Hanukkah Vehicle Procession in Brighton on December 18 will further disrupt local traffic patterns. The city encourages residents and visitors to walk, bike, or use public transit, with the MBTA recommending round-trip tickets for efficiency.
Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, is available for those opting to cycle. These measures are designed to enhance public enjoyment of the events while managing traffic flow effectively. The city aims to promote a pedestrian-friendly environment during these festive occasions.
