Boston, MALocal News

Worcester man Marquis Brown, 40, has been charged with murder in the 2008 fatal stabbing of Becker College student William Smith, aged 19. Brown was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty and is now held without bail. Smith was found with a stab wound to the chest during a large fight that broke out in Worcester on September 21, 2008. The Worcester County District Attorney's office also indicted Steven Black, 39, for perjury related to Smith's death, who was released on $5,000 bail. Witness accounts indicated a chaotic scene with multiple fights when police arrived.

Authorities are actively seeking information from the public to aid in the investigation. Brown's next court appearance is scheduled for July 21. The case has remained unresolved for nearly 17 years, raising concerns over unresolved violent crimes in the community.
