FY2025 Returning Citizens Support Grant

Mayor Michelle Wu announced the allocation of over $900,000 in grants to bolster reentry services for formerly incarcerated individuals in Boston. The funding, distributed through two grant programs, focuses on job training, housing, and overall health for returning citizens. This is the third year the city has implemented these initiatives, highlighting a sustained commitment to community reintegration. City Council President Ruthzee Louijeune noted that these investments help rewrite narratives and create lasting opportunities for returning citizens. The grants include $607,000 for Returning Citizen Support Grants, benefiting 38 organizations providing various services.

Additionally, $300,000 will be directed toward housing support for seven nonprofit organizations with proven success in stabilizing housing for returning individuals. Mayor Wu's administration emphasizes the importance of partnerships with community organizations to enhance access to vital services. This funding initiative aims to ensure that returning citizens are recognized and supported as integral members of the community.
