Lincoln, Massachusetts, police chief suspended by POST commission after domestic violence charges
Lincoln Police Chief Sean Kennedy has been suspended following domestic violence charges stemming from an incident at his home on May 10. He faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a household member after allegedly throwing his wife into a wall during an argument. The victim sustained facial injuries and received stitches above her eye, prompting her hospitalization. Kennedy was arraigned in Dedham District Court, released on $1,500 bail, and ordered to avoid contact with the victim. Town Administrator Timothy Higgins confirmed that the town is conducting an internal review of the situation and takes the allegations seriously.
Kennedy is scheduled to return to court on June 26, while Police Lt. Jon Wentworth has taken over as acting chief. The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission suspended Kennedy's certification, reflecting the seriousness of the charges. The town maintains that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
