Mayor Wu Announces Return of UnCommon Corner and Beer Garden on Boston Common
The UnCommon Corner and beer garden reopened on Boston Common, marking its third year of operation under a partnership with Emerson College. Mayor Michelle Wu highlighted the venue's role in fostering community engagement through daily live performances and a new food vendor, El Jefe’s Taqueria. Situated at Tremont and Boylston Streets, the venue includes the UnCommon Stage and Harpoon Beer Garden, enhancing the historic park's vibrancy. This initiative supports the goals of the Boston Common Master Plan by activating underutilized spaces and connecting the park to downtown. Chief Climate Officer Brian Swett emphasized that the revenue generated will fund free recreational programs for city residents.
The performance space, designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, will feature diverse programming from local musicians and community curators. Emerson President Jay Bernhardt expressed pride in contributing to local culture and engagement through this initiative. The venue aims to provide a hub for artistic expression and community gathering.
