Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston Athletic Association (B. A. A. ) announced the recipients of the Fastest Bostonians awards for the 129th Boston Marathon, honoring local athletes for their remarkable finish times. Erik Linden, a data scientist from Beacon Hill, led the pack with a time of 2:21:25, followed closely by Jacqueline Gaughan, who finished in 2:32:07.

Danielle Bishop completed her eighth marathon in 3:42:14, while Jason Fowler stood out in the wheelchair division with a time of 2:00:43, becoming the first male wheelchair athlete from Boston to receive this recognition. Mayor Wu praised their achievements, emphasizing their representation of Boston's spirit. The marathon celebrated its 50th anniversary of the Wheelchair Division this year, marking a significant milestone in its history. The Fastest Bostonians awards include a commemorative glass bowl engraved with the phrase “Fastest Bostonian. ” Last year, the awards went to three Boston runners, showcasing the ongoing tradition of recognizing local talent.
