Mayor Wu, Boston Emergency Medical Services Celebrate New EMTs and Recent Promotions

Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston Emergency Medical Services celebrated the graduation of 35 new EMT-Recruits and 13 personnel promotions at the Boston Public Library. The EMT-Recruits completed the Boston EMS Recruit Academy, a comprehensive program designed to prepare them for high-pressure emergency situations. Mayor Wu acknowledged their commitment, stating that they are now part of a tradition of skilled and compassionate EMS professionals. Chief James Hooley emphasized the need for these new graduates as Boston EMS responds to over 385 emergencies daily. The academy's curriculum includes training for various critical incidents, ensuring graduates are well-equipped.

In addition to the new EMTs, six individuals were promoted to Paramedic after completing a rigorous program. The department also recognized three promotions to Captain and four to Lieutenant, showcasing nearly 100 years of combined service. This expansion of personnel aims to enhance public health and safety in Boston.
